Dave Matthews Band, 5.18.2002
First show of 2002, and hopefully the start of a general trend of
going to more shows (though not overdoing it, of course). The sound
was great, my seats were AWESOME (according to my ticket, I'm even
a VIP), but the set was somewhat strange. Best part, though, by far,
was hanging out with all the cool people that I hadn't seen in a year.

Dave Matthews Band, 5.19.2002
Second night setlist was fabulous, and the
sound was just as good, though it was hard to tell from section 203.
I get spoiled so easily when I'm sitting in 15th row. Everyday as
a closer was a bit odd, but another very solid show. Again, best part
was hanging out with everyone. It's a great crowd. |

Rusted Root, 5.23.2002
I saw Rusted Root the last time they played the Fillmore, before they
broke up for a while, so it was really sweet to see them there again.
Only about 500 tickets had been sold when the show started, but by
the time the show was really going, the place was packed. Fillmore
is always cool. And damn, could RR have anymore people on stage? |

Chuck MacKinnon Quintet, 7.27.2002
This was a jazz show at Pearl's, up in North Beach. Great band out
of NYC, played a very tight set with lots of slower grooves that just
had some incredible vibe to it. And, much more importantly, I got
to appreciate the music with someone else - it's about sharing the
music and the enjoyment of that music as much as anything else, after
all. Hopefully not the last time. |

Howie Day, 7.31.2002
This was an in-store performance at the Virgin MegaStore in San Francisco.
Howie was in the area for the "Jeep World Outdoor Festival"
with Sheryl Crow, Train, et al. I had not seen Howie live before so
it was quite a treat. It was also quite trippy to see him overdubbing
on himself, on stage. Some may say that it's not "real music,"
but he has taken it to such an art form that it is incredibly impressive.
